It is tones which make a picture come to life – & light which reveals form. A subject can seem dull in some light & inspiring when effectively lit. Multiple light sources can often spoil what could otherwise be an interesting subject.
As a painter look at how you can ‘make’ a picture – perhaps, for example, by emphasising the difference in tones, the shadows or the reflective light. In this acrylic painting of eggs, I have emphasised the tones by using one light source and including strong reflections. I think it helps to bring this painting to life.
